So much of what LUCA achieves — from organising So much of what LUCA achieves — from organising aid, to planning events, to ensuring every penny is used responsibly — is thanks to a small, dedicated group of people working quietly behind the scenes: our trustees. Trustees carry an enormous responsibility. They are the ones who build the structure that keeps LUCA strong and stable. They make the hard decisions, oversee strategy, handle endless logistics, ensure transparency, and guide the organisation through every challenge with integrity and compassion. Their work is often unseen, but it shapes everything we do. Every donation distributed, every project launched, every family helped in Ukraine is possible because our trustees commit their time, expertise, energy, and hearts without expecting anything in return. They bring leadership, vision, and emotional strength — especially during times when the mission is heavy and the stakes are high. They are the steady hands that keep LUCA focused, grounded, and effective. Trustees are more than decision-makers. They are protectors of our values. Guardians of our mission. The people ensuring that LUCA continues to save lives and uplift communities both in Ukraine and in the UK. Thank you @olgish_cakes , @nataly__zubarieva , @roxycakes_roxanne , @kristinazambaite , @gerulyte_th , Traditional smoke house, Tinginiai, @lea.laser.engraving_art ! Thank you so much for the traditional Ukrainian and Lithuanian cakes, lazy cakes, seasoning, smoked fish & meat, candles, crafts, Christmas decorations, organic healthy items from Harmony Health, Lithuanian tree cakes, meat pastries, cookies, souvenirs, custom Christmas ornaments, all the Christmassy treats and sweets! You have filled in a room not only with the best stalls but with the best atmosphere ever! We loved the unity, laughter, new friendships and so much more! ❤️❤️❤️ We have purchased items from all of the stalls ourselves and I CAN NOT RECOMMEND IT ENOUGH! Our homes are now filled with flavours from home, handcrafted candles and all of the sweet treats you could think of!

A SYMBOL OF HOME, COMFORT & RESILIENCE 🤍🇺🇦 Varenyky are so much more than food. For Ukrainians, they are a piece of home — a memory of mothers and grandmothers gathered at the table, hands working, hearts warm. They are one of the strongest markers of Ukrainian identity, appearing in folk songs, art, stories… there are even monuments dedicated to them in both Ukraine and Canada. That’s how iconic they are. Varenyky also carry the spirit of resilience. Historically made from whatever the land offered — potatoes, cottage cheese, berries — they represent simplicity, resourcefulness, and a deep connection to the Ukrainian countryside. They are a symbol of strength, survival, and love for the motherland. At LUCA, when we make varenyky, we’re doing far more than cooking. We’re raising funds that directly support people in Ukraine who urgently need help. We are literally saving lives — one tray of varenyky at a time. But we’re also sharing culture. We’re showing the world just how layered, emotional, and beautifully complex Ukrainian heritage truly is. And for so many Ukrainians far from home, being able to sit together, make varenyky, and feel that familiar warmth again… it’s healing. It’s grounding. It’s a reminder of who we are and why we stand together. Thank you to everyone who joins us, supports us, and keeps this tradition alive. Together, we honour the past, help the present, and protect the future of Ukraine. 🇺🇦
One of the most important missions of LUCA Charity One of the most important missions of LUCA Charity is keeping the truth alive. We are constantly sharing real, up-to-date information about the situation in Ukraine — not just through words, but through real connections with real people. 🇺🇦 On our journey we visit many different places, and one of the places is often the military bases or barracks where we meet young soldiers, experienced professionals, or even veterans who have dedicated their lives to the security of this country. The level of knowledge, commitment and respect we encountered there was truly powerful. Our trustee John, who himself dedicated his life to a military career, delivered an outstanding presentation at the base with @larysad_ and @b_enedett_o. Together, we shared what LUCA has achieved so far, the real-life stories from the frontline, and the ongoing humanitarian work that continues because of your support. This is exactly why we do what we do: to inform, to connect, to remind, and to make sure no one forgets that the war is still happening. Only through understanding each other and standing together as a community can we keep supporting Ukraine in a meaningful, life saving way. Thank you to everyone who listens, learns, and stands with Ukraine. There is a Ukrainian proverb:“Дерево сильне корінням, а людина – друзями”(A tree is strong with its roots and a man with his friends). The community so far away from Ukraine, that we have at LUCA, all of the friends and supporters are the greatest roots we could have! T-shirt with our presidents V Zelenskyy’s signature in Leeds, hand delivered by our wonderful long term supporter and a person who absolutely is the big part of the strength of our roots @alexsobelmp is now with us, thank you to @helen.mcgee.56863 and @alexsobelmp for standing with Ukraine from the day one and not stepping down or slowing down on support. Today marks day 1369 of full scale invasion to Ukraine, many lives lost on each of these days, your never ending support means the world to us and our nation!

Every day, LUCA’s team put in long, often invisi Every day, LUCA’s team put in long, often invisible hours to make sure lives can be saved in Ukraine. People see the results — the cars, the medical aid, the equipment reaching the frontlines — but what they rarely see is the human effort behind every single delivery. It’s the late nights when the phone rings with an emergency request. It’s the early mornings spent organising logistics of the events, paperwork, transportation of aid, planing and delivering projects for over 3 years. It’s the hours spent fundraising, calling, coordinating, packing, and preparing — often after everyone else has gone to bed. Our team doesn’t clock out just because the day ends. They stay because someone’s life may depend on what gets done tonight, not tomorrow. You can help - support people who are working already participate in the events, come to volunteer, show your support, don’t let people to forget that help is needed! #slavaukraini
We have had an absolute pleasure attending beerfes We have had an absolute pleasure attending beerfest at Bradford Ukrainian club 14th and 15th November 😍 Our dedicated team 4th year in row attending fest with our lovely souvenirs, dressed up in authentic Ukrainian attire and talks about our nonstop aid for the Ukrainian soldiers! Our volunteer faces vary from one event to another, but LUCA mission and passion remains the same! Our Ukrainian heroes have already become our friends and the moments we spend with them will be cherished forever! They presented us with a certificate of gratitude for our help, but the pleasure is all ours! We truly value opportunity to be able to assist our charming, witty, intelligent, eternally positive brave defenders! They are simply the best! You inspire us to do more! We are praying for their safety and for peace in Ukraine!
